Birria Tacos Recipe

MAKE AUTHENTIC BIRRIA TACOS AT HOME

Our Birria Tacos are a Taquitos Belfast favourite — slow-cooked, smoky, rich, and packed with bold flavour thanks to our signature Adobo Paste.

This step-by-step recipe shows you how to recreate them at home with the same taste we serve daily at our Belfast street food truck.

  • Adobo Paste – 100g
  • Sea salt – 6g
  • Water – enough to cover

  • Fresh corn tortillas
  • Chopped onion and coriander
  • Lime wedges
  • Salsa Roja (optional)

  • Use Taquitos Adobo Paste for an authentic flavour

METHOD

Step 1 – Slow-Cook the Beef

  1. Place the chuck steak in a large pot.
  2. Add Adobo Paste and salt.
  3. Cover with water until the beef is submerged.
  4. Simmer gently for 3.5 hours until the beef is tender and falling apart.

Step 2 – Fry the Beef

  1. Remove the beef from the pot and shred it into chunks.
  2. Heat a pan and fry the beef in its own fat until slightly crispy at the edges.

Step 3 – Build the Tacos

  1. Dip fresh tortillas into the top layer of the cooking broth to coat lightly.
  2. Fry each tortilla briefly in a hot pan for flavour and colour.
  3. Fill each tortilla with shredded Birria beef, onions, coriander, and Salsa Roja if desired.
  4. Serve with a small bowl of consommé (broth) on the side for dipping.
